A company operating in Southwest Florida (St. Petersburg and Fort Myers), Nickel Ride, has found a new way to turn the advantages of electric vehicles into a competitive advantage. Just download the Nickel Ride app at either the Apple or Google store and request a ride for free.
The company uses advertising revenue to pay for the drivers and cars. They have advertising in the app, on the outside of the cars, and on a screen inside the vehicles. I’m sure tips are accepted also. It seems like a great way to get a free ride and help the environment at the same time!
Nickel Ride started off with neighborhood electric vehicles (similar to golf carts) about a year ago, but have recently upgraded to the Nissan Leaf. Have you seen this in other regions? Is it in your region? Maybe it’s a business you would like to start if it you think it would work in your area.
